As a statutory advisory body, the DRK Technical Committee is also the German Committee for International Humanitarian Law. He deals with current international issues, such as national and international implementation procedures, problem situations in individual conflicts and the work of the International Criminal Court. There will also be an exchange on international humanitarian law with the relevant national committees of other countries. Members of the expert committee are representatives of the German Red Cross, members of the ministry and prominent international lawyers. The expert committee meets two to three times a year.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement hosts the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Conference every four years. An essential task of the conference is the pursuit of the implementation and development of international humanitarian law.
